With the maid’s help, Yilu changed clothes in the room and got onto the Geno family carriage with an angry pout.
On the carriage, Yilu bit her lip, her expression remaining displeased, occasionally glaring at Lyr.
This amused the maid accompanying Yilu.
You’d think they were helping Lyr kidnap Yilu, though Tif had indeed said something like that last night.
“You don’t need to glare at me like that.” Lyr didn’t care about Yilu’s gaze at all, looking outside instead. “Wait until you’re better, then see if you have the energy for that.”
He had planned to stay with Yilu at the academy.
But he couldn’t exactly have a guy like him stay there the whole time; it felt like there would be too many complications.
Once the weekend was over, that situation would be even less likely.
“You…”
“I’m annoying, yeah, I know.” Lyr interrupted absentmindedly.
He said what the other person was about to say, leaving her with nothing to retort.
Besides worrying that Yilu’s condition might return when night fell again,
he was also bothered by the fact that the curse on him had suddenly disappeared.
He hadn’t done anything at all.
If what that guy had said earlier was correct, then the curses on him and Yilu were completely different, which Yilu’s words had also proven.
So if he could resist the curse, how could he help Yilu?
Either find that guy again and ask him, or he really had to wait until Lulong came back to inquire.
When they arrived at the Geno residence, Lyr had expected Tif to come and ask like before.
“The young lady went out with her friends. She said you can arrange things yourself once you’re back.”
That was the maid’s reply.
In Lyr’s impression, Tif wasn’t the type to go out much.
When he wasn’t home, she handled most of the affairs in the mansion, so she didn’t have much time.
As he scratched his head, Yilu was helped down from the carriage by the maid.
Before the maid could continue supporting her, Yilu pulled her hand away on her own, indicating she didn’t need help.
Helpless, the two servants had to clear a path for Yilu, one in front and one behind.
Yilu had stayed here before, so it was much simpler compared to last time.
Even though she wasn’t a member of the Geno family, the maids treated her as a guest.
But this guest seemed much more troublesome than usual.
Even injured as she was now, she still acted like she didn’t need their help, leaving them unsure what to do.
After Lyr had also freshened up, he came to Yilu’s room and knocked a few times. Getting no response, he hesitated for a moment, then pushed the door open and walked in.
The room was completely quiet. If you didn’t look closely at the slightly bulging shape on the bed, you might easily assume Yilu wasn’t there at all.
Lyr glanced at the food still sitting on the table and shook his head.
He walked to the bedside and sat down on the floor, propping his chin on his hand, and said to Yilu, who had covered her head with the blanket, “We’re here now, and you’re still throwing a tantrum?”
This girl had been like that last night; her stamina probably hadn’t recovered, yet she was so stubborn she wouldn’t even eat.
Hearing Lyr’s voice, the blanket shifted slightly.
Yilu was lying inside the blanket, with her back to Lyr.
It wasn’t intentional; it was more like a habit.
After arguments at home before, she would hide under the covers like this to process her emotions.
Lyr chuckled. With no one else around, he spoke to himself, “You’re really something. You were laughing and talking with me earlier, and now you’re throwing a fit here.”
His tone was teasing, as if talking to a child.
“You’re the one who’s something.” Yilu threw off the blanket and sat up straight.
If her foot wasn’t injured, she would have gotten out of bed to deal with him.
“I already said I didn’t want to come. You insisted on having those two drag me here!”
Actually, back at the dorm, Yilu had tried to resist, which put the two maids in a difficult position.
Yilu didn’t want to cause trouble for others because of her own issues.
So she didn’t lash out at the maids; all her anger was directed at Lyr.
Lyr nodded and asked the same question again, “We muddled through last night, but what about tonight?”
Yilu opened her mouth to say something, but the words caught in her throat. She didn’t know what to do.
Recalling last night’s situation, her face turned pale.
Lyr kept his expression calm. “You told me you saw severed limbs, chunks of flesh, eyeballs. I think that’s what everything you saw looked like, right?”
“Yeah.”
Despite her anger, Yilu answered honestly.
That memory was truly like a nightmare, but it had actually happened, which was the most terrifying part.
“Actually, I went through something similar before. Strange words would pop into my head out of nowhere, all blaming me, almost driving me crazy.”
“You went through that too?” Yilu’s eyes widened. Lyr’s serious expression didn’t seem like he was lying.
“Until we met that guy, we both learned it was called a witch’s curse.”
Lyr continued.
He wasn’t trying to reason with Yilu now; he was just calmly stating a fact.
“I’m grateful for your help that day, but I think your situation started after that day, and logically, it has something to do with me. That’s why I feel like I can’t just abandon you.”
He’d already tried the forceful approach. Now that she was here, he needed to let Yilu understand that he wasn’t doing this just because she was in a bad state, so she’d be more receptive.
Lyr stood up, took a piece of bread from the table, tore off a small piece, and held it out to Yilu. “So bear with it for now. Once you’re really okay, if you find me annoying, I won’t bother you.”
Hearing this, Yilu felt complicated and didn’t know what to say.
The thought of this guy never talking to her again felt strangely wrong somehow.
She glanced at the bread in front of her, hesitated for a moment, then leaned forward and opened her mouth.
It looked like she was about to eat, but she was actually aiming for Lyr’s fingers.
Luckily, Lyr pulled his hand back just in time.
Yilu snorted coldly and reached out to Lyr. “Give it to me. I’ll eat it myself.”
Lyr was both amused and exasperated by her behavior, but at least it proved Yilu had backed down a bit.
