It wasn’t until evening that Lyr, waiting at home, finally saw Tif return.
As soon as she entered, Tif sat down on the sofa, and Teanya, who had been busy with her all day, collapsed beside her.
“Water, get me a glass of water.” Teanya ordered the maid without ceremony.
Even though it was her own home, given her friendship with Tif, she still treated this place like her own home.
The maid beside her just smiled wryly and then poured a glass of water.
Then they watched as Teanya drank the water in one go, gulping like a water buffalo.
“Where did you two go? I haven’t seen you all day.” Lyr walked over curiously.
“If the Royal Library didn’t force us to leave at night, I would have thought about not coming back today.”
Teanya looked at Tif in disbelief. She had no idea Tif had that intention today.
“Uh…” Lyr scratched his head.
He understood that Tif was still upset about the time he didn’t come back that night.
Giving Lyr a sideways glance, Tif didn’t want to dwell on this meaningless matter anymore. She turned and took a stack of items out of her bag.
“This is what we searched for all day in the Royal Library.” She let out a long sigh.
Don’t be fooled by how little there is. It was really hard to find.
“What is this?” Lyr stepped forward and casually picked up one sheet.
“About witches.”
Hearing this, Lyr’s eyes widened. He couldn’t believe there were records about such beings.
“We went through a lot of trouble. If our families didn’t have some standing with the royal family, we might not even have been able to enter the Royal Library.”
Teanya didn’t hide her exaggerated tone. She had just stood up to say that, then immediately lay back down, looking extremely tired.
The books housed in the Royal Library were no ordinary books. Even some records could involve many things.
There were even some forbidden magic inside.
As Teanya said, if their two families didn’t have a certain amount of influence with the royal family, even entering might have been impossible.
Even so, they were restricted to a certain area and couldn’t go deeper.
“The records here are all about witches.”
They couldn’t take things out of the Royal Library, so they could only copy some.
Lyr sat down beside them and carefully looked at the contents.
He was surprised to find that The Kingdom’s records about witches could be traced back very far.
One particularly special account was about a king who, as a child, had met a being calling herself a witch. But when he abdicated and enjoyed his old age, he met that being again.
The time span was nearly fifty years, but according to the record, that being still looked the same as before.
She ignored all the guards in the palace at that time, walking through the palace as if on flat ground. No one could approach or stop her.
It seemed she had come to find something, but in the end, no one knew whether she found it. They just watched her leave.
Regarding this kind of being, there wasn’t any large-scale damage at that time.
Another incident was completely opposite.
There was a village that was attacked by an unknown force overnight. When all the soldiers dispatched by The Kingdom went to investigate, they only saw a young girl leading a little girl, holding hands as they left.
From the descriptions of those who narrowly escaped, the word “witch” also came up.
“So beings like this have existed since long ago.” Lyr was amazed that he wasn’t the first person to see a witch.
“There are also some incomplete records.” Tif pulled out one sheet from the bottom. “Long ago, at the beginning of The Kingdom’s founding, a being calling herself a witch also appeared and even helped the then weak kingdom.”
“She helped us?”
At least the two witches Lyr had met didn’t seem like the type to actively help others.
Compared to what was mentioned in the documents, they seemed more like enemies of The Kingdom.
“Yes.” Tif narrowed her eyes. “But the later parts were all torn out. No one knows where they went.”
Items in the Royal Library were all kept by dedicated personnel; this situation simply shouldn’t have occurred.
Even if there were, they would quickly be supplemented according to previous records as much as possible, but this was completely left unattended.
“Did you find any records about the witch’s curse and how to counteract it?”
“No, not a single one.” Tif shook her head.
All records about witches were in the form of sightings. No one had ever spoken with them, let alone knew where they came from or went.
“Then this is a bit troublesome.”
The materials were useful, but unfortunately lacked information on this, making it quite problematic.
“We also saw the Academy Director there. He seemed to know you’ve been looking for him lately.” Teanya casually dropped a remark. “He said next time just go directly to his place. He’ll be waiting for you there.”
“Yes.”
Tif and Teanya hadn’t expected to encounter Lulong there.
This instead left Lyr somewhat confused. He had asked the councilors several times and couldn’t get his whereabouts. Could he just wait for him in the previous place? He remained skeptical about that.
“Let’s drop this. How is Miss Yilu?”
Lyr gestured upstairs. “She’s upstairs. She was still a bit angry when she came.”
“She really lives here with you?” Teanya suddenly sat up, extremely surprised.
Last time she hadn’t gotten a clear answer, but today she happened to run into it.
“Young Master.” A maid hurriedly ran down from upstairs. Seeing her expression, Lyr couldn’t help frowning.
“Miss Yilu’s condition seems off.”
Tif and Teanya exchanged glances, confused.
Lyr instinctively glanced out the window and saw that night had fallen. “Is it the same as last night?”
Without time to explain, Lyr quickly stood up and ran toward Yilu’s room.
No matter how many times he saw it, Yilu’s appearance last night was deeply worrying.
Seeing Lyr’s reaction, Tif asked the maid, “What happened?”
“I don’t know either.” The maid recalled the scene just now, still scared. “I brought food to Miss Yilu. When I went in, I found her crouching in the corner, curled up into a ball, and she kept telling me not to come near.”
That scene really frightened her.
Not just Yilu’s appearance, but also her tone.
She could feel that Yilu was trying very hard to restrain herself, but if she got any closer, she would have screamed at her in the next second.
“What’s going on?” Teanya asked.
She had never heard of Yilu having such a condition.
“Let’s go up and see.”
Tif had asked Lyr to bring Yilu back as a precaution, but she never expected this kind of situation.
