That made sense.
Since she was already in the Dragon Kingdom, she should buy a few things.
Fortunately, the shop owner was courteous enough and did not shun Yiluo Enya simply because she was an Elf.
Just as she finished shopping and was about to head back to rest, an elderly Dragon blocked her path.
“Little one, would you like to take a look at this old man’s toys? I’ve got rattle drums here.”
He was pushing a small handmade cart and wearing a pair of sunglasses.
Since the lighting was dim, the old Dragon turned on the magic light attached to the cart.
Yiluo Enya immediately felt that this elderly Dragon had some mental issues.
Pushing a cart around in the middle of the night and casually calling people “little one”—his family probably hadn’t kept a close enough eye on him, and he had accidentally slipped out.
She wanted to simply walk around him and avoid having anything to do with this Dragon.
But every time she stepped to the side, the old Dragon followed her and blocked her path again.
“Little one, no need to rush off. Are you sure you don’t want to buy some toys to play with?”
“No, I don’t need any. Also, I’m not a little one. Please let me leave.”
Yiluo Enya tried to leave again, but the old Dragon seemed to stick to her like glue, refusing to let her go.
“I said, old sir, I already told you I don’t need anything. Can you please stop blocking my way?”
“No, no, no, you need it. You very much need it.”
Faced with such unreasonable logic from the old man, Yiluo Enya slapped her forehead, feeling a massive headache coming on.
‘Really, why am I bothering to argue with a lunatic? I should just leave, right?’
With that, Yiluo Enya summoned a vine from her hand, temporarily binding the old Dragon so he could not block her as she left.
To her surprise, the old Dragon predicted her magic and shattered the newly formed vine with a spell of his own.
“Youngsters shouldn’t be so impatient. I’m not a bad person. Is this really necessary?”
“If you weren’t a bad person, you wouldn’t be blocking me from going home in the middle of the night!”
“Young Dragons these days are so fussy.”
Yiluo Enya grew more speechless with every word.
“That’s a Dragon matter. I’m an Elf, so it has nothing to do with me, alright? If you keep blocking me, I’m going to call for help.”
“Elf?”
Hearing that word, the old Dragon immediately took off his sunglasses and stepped forward to observe her.
Well, well, an Elf indeed.
Realizing he had made a mistake, the old Dragon quickly apologized.
“My sincerest apologies, Miss Elf. I thought you were the same sort as that little one from last time, so I followed procedure.”
“Your ‘procedure’ is just forcing people to buy things. I don’t have time to waste with you. I’m leaving now.”
“Wait, don’t go.”
“What now?!”
Yiluo Enya was completely out of patience.
“As an apology, I have something for you.”
With that, the old Dragon rummaged through the corners of his cart and pulled out a transparent box.
From the outside, the box was very plain.
Inside, a small seed emitting a faint purple glow lay quietly.
Then, he quickly shoved the box into Yiluo Enya’s hands.
Before she could react, he turned around and ran off with his cart.
As he left, he called back, “Remember to water it regularly! Once in the morning and once at night. This is a good thing!”
By the time Yiluo Enya came to her senses, the old Dragon had already vanished without a trace.
“Hey! Wait up!”
‘Really, his legs are way too nimble for an old Dragon.’
She weighed the box in her hand.
It was fairly substantial.
She had no idea why the old Dragon’s attitude had completely changed after learning she was an Elf, nor why he had given her a gift.
But…
‘Free is free. No harm in taking it.’
About an hour after Yiluo Enya returned home, she arrived at the house she had bought near the Academy.
That same night, Zhu Qiu had chosen not to stay at the Imperial Palace.
“I’m back!”
Zhu Qiu pushed open the door, carrying a bag with a brilliant smile on her face.
At that moment, Yiluo Enya was sitting bored on the bed, staring at the glowing seed in her hand.
“Hehe~”
“Oh? Zhu Qiu, you’re back.”
“Yeah! Tomorrow’s a big day, and I was afraid I’d oversleep and be late, so I came over early.”
“Oh, I see.”
Seeing Zhu Qiu so happy, Yiluo Enya’s lonely mood lifted a little as well.
“Lalala~ Yiluo Enya, come eat some candy! I specially had Zhu Xiaxia buy them. Tons and tons!”
Zhu Qiu placed the bag on the table and opened it, grabbing a large handful of candies and generously tossing them in front of Yiluo Enya.
Yiluo Enya casually popped one into her mouth, then held up the seed and asked, “Zhu Qiu, do you know what this thing is?”
“Mmph? Mmmph yah shuh goo…”
In that short span of time, Zhu Qiu had already stuffed her mouth full of candy, thoroughly enjoying the sweetness.
“Maybe finish eating your candy first?”
“Gulp, okay.”
With that, she quickly chewed up the candy in her mouth.
The sweetness instantly spread through her mouth, giving Zhu Qiu a brief but intense thrill before she quickly swallowed it down.
At that moment, Yiluo Enya held the seed out on her palm, and Zhu Qiu leaned in to take a look.
“What is it? So mysterious.”
“Here, just this little thing. About an hour ago, an elderly Dragon gave it to me. He originally blocked my way and wouldn’t let me leave, but after he heard I was an Elf, he ran off and gave me this.”
Blocked Yiluo Enya from leaving?
“An elderly Dragon?”
Those two key details immediately made Zhu Qiu think of the old man she had encountered before.
“Did he also push a small cart and have bad eyesight?”
“Yes!”
Yiluo Enya quickly nodded, surprised that Zhu Qiu actually knew this guy.
If that was the case, then Zhu Qiu probably knew a thing or two about what this old man handed out.
“That’s him, then. I got blocked by him at night too. He shoved some random thing at me as well.”
“He gave you something strange too? Then you must know what this seed is for, right?”
But faced with that question, Zhu Qiu could only shake her head helplessly.
“I can’t quite figure it out either. I still haven’t figured out what he gave me last time. It’s been a few weeks now.”
“You haven’t figured it out either?”
Hearing Zhu Qiu’s answer, Yiluo Enya felt a little disappointed.
But then again, since Zhu Qiu had received something from him too…
‘Maybe she could take hers out for reference. It might be useful.’
“Zhu Qiu, what did the old man give you? Mind taking it out for me to see?”
“What he gave me?”
Zhu Qiu thought back briefly.
It seemed to be a rusty sword.
It had been placed in her room back then, but then the sword disappeared and turned into a slime that called itself Jian Mo.
Oh, right! Jian Mo.
“Demon Sword!”
