[Your optional task “Find the missing Nature divine official ‘Trineph'” in the task “Resentment Across Millennia” has been completed.]
Before the tombstone, Trineph lay on her side, her graceful curves sprawled under the clear, ethereal light, dense Dark Fall aura swirling around her.
Bai Yue Ling hurried over, helping Trineph up, only to see her eyes tightly closed, face deathly pale, and breathing faint.
“She seems to have absorbed too much Dark Fall power.”
Bai Yue Ling bit her silver teeth lightly, hugging the half-head-taller Trineph tightly to her chest, their soft breasts pressing together as she quietly absorbed the excess Dark Fall aura from her.
As time passed, Trineph’s little face gradually regained its rosy hue, her breathing steadied, her chest rising and falling—she had clearly fallen into a deep sleep.
“Whew…” Bai Yue Ling finally exhaled in relief, gently wiping the fragrant sweat from her forehead.
At that moment, Frite walked over slowly, standing before the massive tombstone.
Her form gradually dissipated in the ethereal light, turning into countless specks that merged into the tombstone.
Hum—
With a faint hum echoing, the black mist enveloping the area swirled into a vortex, gathering before the tombstone into a shadowy figure topped with a halo and bearing black wings.
It looked down at Bai Yue Ling, dozens of different voices emanating from its mouth simultaneously, like notes leaping on piano strings, weaving together and piercing straight into Bai Yue Ling’s heart.
“You are… Dark Lisa?”
“Me?”
Bai Yue Ling was startled—this shadowy figure knew Dark Lisa?
Without hesitation, she cast an “Appraisal.”
[Name: Souls of the Fallen Angels]
[Race: Fallen Angel/Undead]
[Level: ???]
[Class: ???]
[Description: A collective of the souls of Fallen Angels, polluted by darkness and corruption during the God War in their lifetimes, thus abandoned by the Light goddesses and forced to meet death in endless agony.]
[Remarks: Dark Lisa is one of the souls.]
Boom!
Bai Yue Ling’s mind felt like it had been struck by lightning—all her doubts and confusion cleared in that instant.
Dark Lisa… Fallen Angel… Dark Fall… So that’s where the Dark Fall power came from.
She couldn’t help recalling the moment she met Dark Lisa during character creation.
The overwhelming madness from Dark Lisa, the hatred burning to engulf the world in flames—it all matched the soul’s description.
Seeing Bai Yue Ling lost in thought, the soul spoke again. “Dark Lisa?”
“Ah… I’m not Dark Lisa.” Bai Yue Ling answered honestly. “She’s sleeping right now, oh.”
“Sleeping…?”
The soul scanned Bai Yue Ling up and down repeatedly, suddenly flying right up to her.
“Wu-eh?! W-Wait! What are you doing?!”
[Your equipment “Fallen Light Armor” has been removed.]
The soul roughly stripped off Bai Yue Ling’s skirt armor, misty black fingers tearing open the thin black stockings, gently stroking her abdomen.
There was the mark of a Fallen Angel—a pair of black wings, topped with a pitch-black halo.
The soul released its fingers, saying flatly, “I see. You’re the one chosen by Dark Lisa—you’re one of our kin.”
Bai Yue Ling blinked. “Chosen? Well… Yeah, since I’m a Fallen Angel now too.”
“No… You’re not just an ordinary Fallen Angel. You’re the world’s only Fallen Angel—the hope for our vengeance.”
“Vengeance?” Bai Yue Ling muttered. “Revenge for what?”
The soul’s voice was ethereal and resounding, drawing Bai Yue Ling’s thoughts to distant memories.
“Let us tell you… the story of the Fallen Angels…”
Angels were holy beings born in the Heavenly Kingdom, inherently symbols of the purest Light, deeply favored by the five goddesses of the Light Faction.
Many angels chose to serve a particular goddess, spreading her divine light across the world to bring hope and warmth to its people.
Until the God War erupted a thousand years ago, coating the land in bloodshed and countless deaths. Yet Light and Dark remained evenly matched, neither gaining a clear edge.
To end the war swiftly, the goddesses thought of the angels from the Heavenly Kingdom.
If they formed a legion entirely of angels, it could surely turn the tide, scattering the darkness.
Hearing that it would bring peace to the world, the naive angels unhesitatingly selected the strongest 99 among them, accepting the goddesses’ blessings to form the Angel Legion for the mortal war.
This Angel Legion was like an unbreakable spear, instantly shattering the stalemate of the God War. Unstoppable on the battlefield, it gradually tipped the scales.
After a protracted conflict, the Dark Faction suffered a devastating defeat. Four goddesses fell one after another, and the survivors went into hiding, barely scraping by, posing no further threat.
The Light Faction claimed a glorious victory, the world welcomed peace, and the Angel Legion finally laid down their weapons, dragging their weary bodies back to the Heavenly Kingdom.
But they never imagined that awaiting them wasn’t the warm welcome of their kin, but cold, ruthless suspicion, blame, and judgment—
“These are the War Angels sent to the mortal realm? They don’t look like our kind at all!”
“Our proud white wings and halos are stained black! Can they even still be called angels?”
“Stay away—they’re covered in blood; they must’ve killed plenty.”
“They can’t live in the Heavenly Kingdom, or they’ll pollute everyone!”
“They’re just like the Dark Faction—bringing nothing but misfortune to this world!”
Only then did the War Angels realize that, far from receiving honor and praise upon their triumphant return, they had become pariahs, viewed as traitors and shames by their own kind.
In the end, the angels unanimously declared that these War Angels had been polluted by dark forces.
Their blood-blackened wings and halos were the clearest proof.
During this time, the War Angels vaguely sensed a mysterious force deliberately pushing all this, driving them toward the so-called “dark and fallen” abyss.
Before they could investigate, they faced their kin’s merciless judgment.
Ultimately, they were imprisoned in a bottomless canyon, countless blades raining down from the sky, followed by endless Light flames incinerating them.
The angels used the cruelest methods to “purify” the dark pollution from their bodies.
Nurtured by the Light flames, the once-barren canyon bloomed lushly after a century, named the Forest of Nature. Later, due to an earthquake, the canyon was buried deep underground and forgotten by the world.
These War Angels hadn’t died at the hands of the Dark Faction but at those of their own Light Faction.
Yet in their final moments, their sorrow, resentment, and hatred coalesced into one, merging with the angels’ power, wisdom, and courage to form a brand-new force—”Dark Fall.”
And they themselves evolved into a new race—”Fallen Angels,” just as their kin had condemned them.
“So that’s how it is…”
After hearing the firsthand account from the souls of the Fallen Angels, Bai Yue Ling finally understood.
No wonder when she first met Dark Lisa, the hatred radiating from her was so profound—even deeper than Bai Yue Ling’s own loathing for being crossed legs-ed by big sisters. It stemmed from this colossal injustice.
“Understand now? You are the Fallen Angel race’s sole survivor.”
The soul’s misty black form suddenly trembled violently, like a deflating balloon spewing endless black mist, its laughter filled with infinite malice and madness.
“Hahaha! To hell with this damned Light and Dark!”
“Avenge us against this wretched world!”
“Let the whole world feel the pain we endured, taste our torment—make them all kneel in darkness and wail in agony!”
