Bai Lili and Lilith wandered around the area for a while, finding very few living creatures, or rather, none at all. It was like a dilapidated ruin after a great war. Bai Lili picked up a stone from the ground and tossed it forward.
“Hey, Lilith, how long do you think we’ll have to walk here? There’s nothing at all, and we don’t even know where the exit is.”
Lilith beside her was actually quite happy inside, though on the surface she pretended to be worried.
“I don’t know either. This place looks like a ruin-type secret realm. And I can feel that there’s something good inside this secret realm.”
Seeing this, Bai Lili let Lilith take the lead. She herself had no combat ability. If they really encountered a monster, she wouldn’t even have a place to run. She’d truly become a sweet, soft marshmallow, the kind that bursts with juice when you bite into it.
Lilith held Bai Lili’s hand and walked through this withered forest for quite some time. Gradually, they noticed the surrounding scenery changing. The dark forest ahead transformed into a field planted full of roses. Each rose was delicate and alluring, its petals a crimson red like fresh blood. The air even seemed to carry a faint, lingering scent of blood. Lilith quickly sensed something was off. The red on these rose petals was indeed dyed with blood. As a member of the Blood Clan, she had a keen perception of blood.
Lilith picked up a stone from the ground. From a point at a safe distance from the sea of roses, she threw the stone far away. The moment the stone landed, the flower sea seemed to come alive. Countless thorns surged towards that single point. After a few seconds, the flower sea returned to its original state, looking harmless and peaceful. Who would have thought these roses could be so dangerous? Lilith tightened her grip on Bai Lili’s hand.
“Lili, this flower sea ahead seems a bit problematic. Do you have any ideas?” Lilith asked.
Bai Lili had also seen it. Lilith had just thrown a stone, and this flower sea had acted like a living creature, actively preying on any target that entered its attack range. After some thought, Bai Lili finally shook her head, indicating she didn’t know what to do either.
Just as Bai Lili was still pondering what to do, an idea suddenly popped into Lilith’s mind. Since this secret realm had actively pulled her in, it proved there was something about her that met the activation conditions for this realm. And the environment here was very similar to the living areas of the Blood Clan. Lilith deduced that it was probably her S-rank upper-tier Blood Clan ability that had triggered this dungeon’s special mechanism.
So, Lilith pulled Bai Lili aside and inquired,
“Lili, do you have any container that can hold blood? I think I roughly know how to solve this.”
Bai Lili rummaged through her waist pouch and found a glass bottle. It still contained half a bottle of water she hadn’t finished drinking. Bai Lili handed the glass water bottle to Lilith.
“Here, this is all I have.”
Lilith took the glass water bottle from Bai Lili. With a hint of opportunism in her heart, she downed all the water in the bottle in one go. After finishing, she didn’t forget to lick her lips.
“Mmm, a bit sweet.”
Bai Lili silently rolled her eyes. Using her small hand, she pinched the soft flesh at Lilith’s waist and twisted it a full turn. Instantly, Lilith’s face scrunched up in pain, and she cried out hurriedly.
“Ow, ow, ow, that hurts! Lili, stop pinching!”
Seeing Lilith’s expression, Bai Lili couldn’t help but be amused.
“If you know it hurts, then hurry up.”
Seeing Bai Lili amused, Lilith also felt a bit of warmth in her heart. She needed to step up her efforts to win over Bai Lili. Lilith unscrewed the bottle cap, took out the dagger she carried with her, and made a cut on her hand. The cut wasn’t too deep nor too shallow. Lilith’s blood flowed from her hand into Bai Lili’s bottle. Before long, it was already half full.
Watching Lilith cut her hand, Bai Lili asked softly,
“Does it hurt? Do you want me to heal it for you?”
Lilith smiled and shook her head.
“It’s all for you, Lili. It doesn’t hurt.”
Seeing Lilith like this, Bai Lili gave her a hug. After all, her ability needed close contact to trigger. When Lilith was hugged by Bai Lili, she felt her life was complete. She really wanted to lock Bai Lili up at home and dote on her fiercely. Lilith sniffed the scent on Bai Lili—a milky fragrance mixed with a faint hint of jasmine.
Although Lilith truly wanted to stay like this a bit longer, she knew this place wasn’t safe. They needed to find a safe spot first, then think about the next step.
Lilith threw the glass bottle containing her blood high into the sea of bloody roses. As the glass bottle shattered on impact, Lilith’s blood splattered onto the surrounding blood roses. The roses in this flower sea truly acted as if they were living beings with their own consciousness, parting to create a path. The flowers lining both sides of the path seemed to be bowing to their queen.
Lilith tightened her grip on Bai Lili’s hand and pulled her through this flower sea at a quick pace. Once past the flower sea, what appeared before Lilith’s eyes was an ancient castle. Its shape resembled a medieval fortress, primarily colored in black. The crimson moonlight spilled over it, giving it a distinct feeling of a Blood Clan castle from a novel.
Lilith and Bai Lili stood outside the main gate of this castle. The castle’s large door was imprinted with a rose pattern. It seemed the master of this castle really liked flowers, Bai Lili thought. Lilith stepped forward and knocked on the castle’s large door.
“Hello? Is anyone inside?” Lilith shouted, hoping the person inside was friendly and could send them out.
Lilith had no other options now. After all, this place was desolate and uninhabited; they hadn’t even seen a magical beast. Only this castle looked like a possible way out. If the castle’s master was a peerless powerhouse, then they wouldn’t be able to escape anyway. The only thing Lilith regretted was that she might die without ever getting to taste the soft, sticky little cake that was Bai Lili.
