“Wait, take that with you.”
Just as she was about to leave, Shu Yue suddenly called out to Emily, pointing at the tail blade not far away.
Emily turned to look, not quite understanding, but she still did as Shu Yue said.
She helped Shu Yue walk over, and Shu Yue picked up the tail blade and stuffed it into the small bag at her waist.
The tail blade wasn’t particularly large, about one meter and thirty centimeters long, roughly twenty centimeters shorter than Shu Yue’s height.
Its width was about the size of two adult palms laid side by side, and it felt metallic to the touch.
It wasn’t extremely heavy.
While the small bag could hold it, the weight didn’t vanish; it was added to the bag. Fortunately, Shu Yue could still manage the extra weight.
Emily felt Shu Yue’s body become much heavier than before.
She pressed her lips together, wanting to say something but holding back.
The two walked for a while, but it was far too slow.
Finally, Emily mustered the courage to voice her thoughts.
“Little sister, maybe I should carry you on my back.”
“……”
Shu Yue was silent for a long while.
Her mind wasn’t clear, feeling dizzy and unwell, which made her thoughts sluggish.
After a long time, she reluctantly nodded in agreement.
Seeing Shu Yue agree, Emily breathed a sigh of relief.
She had always thought Shu Yue had a cold and proud personality, very strong-willed and reluctant to accept help from others.
Accepting her support while walking was already a sign of a good relationship, let alone being carried.
Being carried on the back wasn’t just ordinary closeness.
With chest pressed against back, Shu Yue could feel Emily’s warmth, and Emily could feel Shu Yue’s softness and lightness.
Ahem, ahem…
When she actually carried her, Emily discovered it wasn’t light at all.
It was unexpectedly very, very heavy!
Shu Yue really had no other choice.
Her current condition was poor, but she had to leave this place quickly.
The commotion earlier had been too great, especially that flash alchemical potion.
The light it emitted could probably be seen from kilometers away.
People would soon come to investigate.
Walking on her own would definitely be difficult.
Although her body was still in the Dragon Maiden state after the Bloodline Manifestation, and her physique could still manage running, the spiritual damage meant she could pass out at any moment.
Forcing herself to walk would easily lead to a collapse.
Having Emily support her would be too slow.
She could only agree to let Emily carry her.
She lay on Emily’s back, and Emily nearly stumbled and fell.
The Knight Princess was also somewhat injured.
Using the Battle Method to briefly exceed limits caused significant damage to the body.
This ability was usually only used in the final moments of a desperate struggle, as one’s physical strength would drop by several tenths after those few seconds, putting one at a severe disadvantage in subsequent clashes.
So, it was avoided if possible; it was practically one of the trump cards of the Combat System.
Shu Yue was quite interested in that ability.
In her Dragon Maiden state after Bloodline Manifestation, her physique was far superior to a human’s.
If she used the Battle Method to exceed limits, she should be able to truly unleash the power of this physique, rather than just using brute force as she did now.
“It’s a shame that ‘Fertile Soil upon the Body’ occupies too much of my soul now, leaving no room to learn Battle Methods.”
Both spellcraft and Battle Methods occupied the soul, which gave her quite a headache.
In reality, individual spells didn’t occupy much.
Spellcraft occupied a lot because it contained junk spells, many prerequisite spells, and some spells for advancement.
It was a complete set of knowledge, so it was understandable that it occupied so much.
Even the most basic Dust-covered Grade spellcraft could be used up to the peak of Tier 2. If one could break through to Tier 3, it could still be used, as it included pre-installed Tier 3 spells.
Shu Yue thought this was a bad system.
Who pre-installs things directly?
Wouldn’t it be better to learn them tier by tier?
But she also understood why—nothing more than monopoly…
Seeing Emily struggling a bit, she initially wanted to show concern, but then she remembered this was her cheap fiancée, who had said to her face that she wanted to dissolve their marriage contract.
What should have been words of concern turned into a complaint.
“Do you think I’m heavy?”
“Hmm? No, no, little sister isn’t heavy at all!”
Emily hurriedly denied it.
It was truly heavy, but she knew it probably wasn’t Shu Yue’s actual body weight.
Shu Yue gave a light humph and rested her head on Emily’s shoulder.
She forced herself to stay awake.
Even knowing Emily was an idiot, she absolutely couldn’t let her guard down because of it.
If you drop all defenses against an idiot, you’ll be done in by the idiot’s sheer stupidity.
If Emily took her back to Grey Pine City, it would be over.
Shu Yue pointed in a direction and said, “Go that way. Hurry.”
“Oh, okay!”
Emily responded and quickened her pace considerably.
Although she had some internal injuries, it was just soreness in her limbs.
Apart from being a bit slower, she was fine.
Feeling the bumps along the road, Shu Yue was truly exhausted.
The events of yesterday had already left her vexed.
Whether it was Eustia threatening her or Anna’s midnight attack, both had left Shu Yue physically and mentally drained, leaving her with little desire to sleep or rest.
Today, she had overused her Spirituality, causing mental damage.
Shu Yue felt she could close her eyes and rest, as long as her consciousness didn’t shut down completely.
She smelled the faint scent of sweat and the rich fragrance of Emily’s hair.
The smell wasn’t pungent and felt rather pleasant to her.
Emily’s hands hooked under Shu Yue’s knees, the softness transmitted through her palms surprising her.
The power Shu Yue had displayed earlier made her think this Heteromorph girl’s body was very powerful, with hard muscles naturally present.
But why did Shu Yue feel soft all over?
It would be very comfortable to sleep while holding her.
She slightly turned her head, glancing out of the corner of her eye, and discovered Shu Yue had actually closed her eyes while resting on her shoulder.
Her breathing had also become steady, something she could feel through the contact between her back and Shu Yue’s chest.
The silver-scaled tail, which had been perked up before, now drooped down.
Fortunately, it didn’t drag straight on the ground, but it no longer swayed left and right or swung around as it had before.
Emily lowered her voice and carefully called out, “Little sister?”
No response.
Shu Yue was already asleep.
—
The sun had already sunk to the horizon, not long from setting.
Emily glanced at it before withdrawing her gaze, looking down at the girl sleeping with her head pillowed on her thigh.
Smooth silver hair was casually spread out, still emitting a faint glow even in the dim light.
While asleep, the girl’s stunningly beautiful face revealed the tenderness and softness appropriate for her age.
She seemed to be having a nightmare, her brows tightly furrowed.
That pained expression made it hard not to feel affection and pity for her.
Emily carefully reached out and lifted a strand of hair, gently rubbing her fingers against it to feel its silkiness.
But she was no longer satisfied with just that.
Pinching the strand, she brought it close to her nose.
She lightly sniffed the scent on the hair.
There was only a very faint, faint smell, indicating the owner of the hair didn’t use any scented alchemical potions to wash it.
That faint, subtle fragrance was the girl’s natural scent.
Thinking of this, Emily greedily lifted a handful of hair and took a deep breath.
Anyway, the girl hadn’t woken up and wouldn’t know what she had done.
Even so, while doing this, Emily’s heart pounded wildly.
Full of the thrill of doing something sneaky…
She glanced to confirm Shu Yue was still asleep, breathed a sigh of relief, and then took another strong sniff of the hair’s fragrance.
Haaa~
This is the real deal, so satisfying!
Emily looked at Shu Yue’s face, feeling a bit tempted to touch it, but then she started worrying that touching might wake Shu Yue.
Then, Shu Yue would keep her distance again, and she wouldn’t be able to look at Shu Yue this closely.
She was very interested in the small horns emerging from the silver hair.
The tail was too far away to touch easily, so she could only look at it.
But these horns were right in front of her; she could touch them if she wanted.
But what would happen if she touched them and got caught?
Emily couldn’t determine Shu Yue’s race.
There were many, many types of Heteromorphs.
As the young lady of a Baron’s family, she only knew about the Elven race and some Beastkin.
Those with long, pointed ears and good looks were Elves.
Those with other features were Beastkin.
Shu Yue had a pair of slightly long, pointed ears, fair and pink, making Emily’s mouth water with a desire to give them a gentle nibble to test the texture.
The current horns and the tail on her rear proved Shu Yue wasn’t an Elf.
If not an Elf, then she was a Beastkin.
But what kind of Beastkin?
“Lizardfolk? No, I remember those guys don’t have human heads at all.”
Emily looked at Shu Yue’s appearance and couldn’t connect it to those ugly Lizardmen at all.
She’s so cute; she definitely can’t be from that race.
It must be something else.
Suddenly, Emily seemed to think of something…
Staring intently at Shu Yue, Emily remembered Shu Yue’s golden vertical pupils from before.
The Knight Princess swallowed a mouthful of saliva, her body stiffening.
She looked at Shu Yue’s face and murmured, “Could it be… the Dragon Race?”
Emily had never seen any Dragon Race, but she knew legends said they existed in this world.
She had even discussed it with Vanessa before—if there really were Dragon Race among the Beastkin, what would they look like?
Back then, Emily thought they would have dragon heads, human bodies, and scales all over, just like Lizardmen.
Now, seeing Shu Yue, she thought the Dragon Race should look like Shu Yue.
—
Shu Yue slowly opened her eyes, finding Emily scrutinizing her.
Startled, she immediately sprang up, almost retreating to the stone wall in one move, staring warily at Emily.
Emily was stunned for a moment, then felt somewhat wronged.
Emily didn’t expect Shu Yue to be so wary of her.
Did she look that terrifying?
Then she thought again: for a Dragon Race girl like Shu Yue to come alone to human territory, such vigilance was warranted.
It was she herself who had been overly intimate.
They had only met today.
It was Emily who unilaterally felt their relationship was good.
After calming down, Shu Yue relaxed a bit too.
She also understood that it was Emily who had brought her here to hide.
“Thank you…”
After saying this, a dull pain throbbed in her head.
Shu Yue closed her eyes and rubbed her temples, then took out a bottle of energy potion from her pocket and drank it.
