Ever since the Thunder Wolf unleashed this form, the Octopus Monster had no power to fight back. It was easily blasted away. The Thunder Wolf controlled red lightning, electrocuting the Octopus Monster until it was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, then carried Lilith and the others on its back and sped off.
The Octopus Monster watched the departing Thunder Wolf and let out an enraged roar. But then it reconsidered—it still had a chance. It returned to the cave, found a fragment of the organizer’s teleportation gate, and then activated a magic circle to open a teleportation gate leading to the Hunting Zone. It seemed very confident that it could go on a rampage inside the Hunting Zone.
Thus, the Octopus Monster led a group of cultists into the teleportation gate, while also dispelling Lin Shuran’s illusion. When Lin Shuran woke up, she wasn’t pleased at all; in fact, she was somewhat furious. She opened her mouth and said:
“You said you could let me swap lives, so why am I still like this?”
The Octopus Monster’s ten eyes stared at this ungrateful creature standing before it. The illusion it had created for her was exactly what she wanted—to be loved by others. So it had crafted an illusion where she was loved over and over, with a different kind of affection every day. (Note: The human form was designed according to this octopus’s aesthetic.)
The Octopus Monster scratched its head with a tentacle, then couldn’t be bothered to argue with the creature. It grabbed her with one tentacle, and also picked up Long Chen who was lying on the ground, then entered the teleportation gate. The cultists followed closely behind.
Soon after entering the gate, the teleportation closed. The Octopus Monster looked around and noticed something dripping on its head. It touched its head with a tentacle, and then came the screams from the cultists behind it:
“Th-there’s a monster!”
The Octopus Monster turned its head and saw a huge monster covered in rippling muscles. Its legs were thick and powerful, but its hands were extremely short. Its body was blackish-red with muscle, and its eyes emitted a crimson glow. That gaze wasn’t like looking at an opponent, but like looking at food. Its teeth seemed to grow outward. The Octopus Monster noticed that this monster still had another monster dangling from its mouth.
This monster slammed the dragon in its mouth forcefully into the ground, sending the Octopus Monster flying. Then it threw the dragon from its mouth at the Octopus Monster, dealing a second wave of damage. That discarded dragon struggled to its feet and fled at incredible speed, as if afraid of being used as a weapon by this giant monster again.
The Octopus Monster’s cultists were all wiped out by a single tail swipe from this monster. It wanted to fight to the death, but how laughable it seemed before this creature. The monster merely regarded it as food—this enraged the Octopus Monster. Just as it was about to launch an attack, the monster released a black breath that pinned the Octopus Monster to the wall, unable to move.
Then came a fierce, bare-knuckle brawl—though only the Octopus Monster was on the receiving end. By the time the Octopus Monster was left with only a breath of life, Long Chen, who had been thrown aside by the Octopus Monster, woke up and said:
“I’m still alive? Could I really be the child of destiny?”
Before he could finish speaking, he spotted Lin Shuran sneaking around and shouted:
“It’s you, you fing b*, who made me end up like this!”
Lin Shuran’s face showed a terrified expression. Long Chen thought she was scared of him, but then he heard a rumbling behind him. The ground shook, causing Long Chen to lose his footing. He turned around and saw the gigantic monster.
The monster didn’t seem to intend to let Long Chen or Lin Shuran live. It directly bit Long Chen, flung him into the air, and swallowed him whole. It did the same to Lin Shuran. Thus, the two entered the monster’s belly with despair. The Octopus Monster was taken to the monster’s lair to be enjoyed slowly.
…
The Thunder Wolf charged back into the venue. The area that had just been repaired was smashed open again by the Thunder Wolf’s impact. The Thunder Wolf was now like a red lightning bolt. Its massive body walked up to the staff member, pointed a claw at the teleportation gate, and signaled for them to open it.
The venue staff understood immediately and dared not delay a single moment. They promptly opened the teleportation gate to send this imposing deity away. Lilith and the others got off the Thunder Wolf, wanting to send it off. Li Meng was about to take Bai Lili back when the Thunder Wolf slammed a paw down in front of Li Meng, blocking her.
Li Meng looked at the Thunder Wolf before her. It seemed not to want her to take Bai Lili away. The Thunder Wolf pointed at Bai Lili, then at itself, signaling to leave Bai Lili with it. Seeing this, Li Meng could only comply. So far, the Thunder Wolf hadn’t shown any hostility; on the contrary, it had helped them a lot. And one thing had to be admitted: this Thunder Wolf’s strength could easily wipe out everyone here. Then the Thunder Wolf walked up to Lilith, pointed its claw at Lilith, then at Bai Lili, and finally at itself.
Bai Lili couldn’t sit steadily on the Thunder Wolf right now, so it had Lilith hold Bai Lili tightly before entering the teleportation gate. Su Ruo and Qing Hanyin originally wanted to follow, but a red lightning bolt from the Thunder Wolf blocked them outside the gate.
After Lilith followed the Thunder Wolf through the gate, it took them back to the original cabin. The Thunder Wolf pushed aside the boulder in front of the cabin, revealing an unknown magic circle inside. The Thunder Wolf pointed its claw at the unknown magic circle, and Lilith roughly understood the meaning.
Lilith placed Bai Lili on the magic circle. The Thunder Wolf pointed at Lilith, then at the magic circle. Lilith asked doubtfully:
“You want me to lie down too?”
The Thunder Wolf nodded. Lilith had no choice but to obey and lay down together with Bai Lili. Then Lilith felt an irresistible wave of fatigue. Seeing that Lilith had fallen into a deep sleep, the Thunder Wolf itself stepped into the magic circle, curled up, and used its tail to pull both Bai Lili and Lilith close to the soft fur on its belly.
The red energy coiling around its body gradually reverted to its original cyan color. At the same time, the Thunder Wolf closed its eyes and seemed to fall into a deep sleep as well.
